Super-Easy Ways To Spend Less Time Cleaning

Hey, if you love nothing more than doing the housework on a daily basis, then don’t let us stop you. Take as much time as you need, and then create an extra mess on purpose so you can return to your household chores in double-quick time! However, if you would rather spend more time with your family and friends, or engaged in a hobby you enjoy, rather than wasting another precious moment with a vacuum cleaner by your side, then you might want to consider our tips below.

#1: Arm yourself with the best cleaning gear

Look, that rickety old vacuum cleaner you still have in your possession is never going to get the job done in double-quick time. And if your mop has seen better days, you are never going to see your beautiful face in the floors you have cleaned. When you are only armed with cleaning gear that is second-best and near-useless, you are going to spend more time than you would like cleaning. So, despite the expense, invest in something new, as if you are armed with such items as the Shark Rotator Vacuum and the Twist and Shout mop, not only will you get better results, but you won’t have to spend hours of your life cleaning!

#2: Clean as you go

If you let your mess build up, the more time you will have to spend engaged in your household chores. So, clean as you go, and get on top of your mess before it gets on top of you. So, when you have used a mug or a plate, wash them, instead of letting them build up in your sink. When you step out of the bath, wipe away the grime and hairs that are building up inside. And when you’re stood in the kitchen waiting for the kettle to boil or the microwave to ding, clean up any mess that is obvious to you. Follow this practice throughout your home, as if you can do little bits at a time, you will have less to return to later.

#3: Delegate to others

Why should you get all the ‘fun’ from cleaning? Make like Tom Sawyer and encourage other people to lend you a hand too! When your housemates or family members see you merrily skipping around the room with a feather duster in one hand and a cleaning cloth in the other, they should be desperate to have a go for themselves! Well, I am joking, of course, as the people you live with will see through your devious ploys. Still, if they live with you, they should be lending you a hand anyway, as they will be responsible for much of the mess that has been created. So, create a cleaning schedule for yourself and the people you live, and force/cajole/blackmail/tempt/bribe/politely request that they reduce your housework burden by lending you a hand.

#4: Hire a cleaner

Okay, so this is an easy get-out, I know. However, it can also be expensive. But if you only pay somebody to give your home a thorough clean once a month, you will have less to do yourself in the weeks before they next return to your home. Result!

#5: Invest in a robot vacuum cleaner

Buy yourself a robot vacuum, and let this miniature marvel crack on with your floors while you’re putting your feet up. Just don’t forget to put the cat out, or you might have a battle on your hands between machine and beast. Your dog might also have something to say (bark about) on the matter too, as you can see here. Still, you could always pop your headphones on when you’re basking on the sofa!

#6: Get rid of your clutter

Not only is clutter bad for your mental state – a tidy house is a tidy mind, remember – but it can also result in you spending more of your time cleaning. You will have to waste your time moving things to one side to get to certain nooks and crannies for one thing, and the more items you have, the more time you will spend dusting, polishing, and washing them. So, get rid of anything you don’t need anymore and clear up your living space. Not only will you feel mentally better when your house is clutter-free, but you will also have more time and room in your home to put your feet up! Use these decluttering tips if you need to.

So, don’t let your household chores rule your life! With these tips, you should have more time for the fun things in life, and less time with your sleeves rolled up while sweating it away with your household chores!
